Do you know why Matariki is celebrated? Well it is celebrations because it is like a Maori new year Matariki is celebrations because it is for the Seven sisters who go around the world each year and come back around late May to early July.
If you read a book about the legends that first saw Matariki it can help you understand more about Matariki.Our classRoom 11 did a display in the hall and we made a marai and all of other class had to put there display.I thing that you should do a marai if you do a display at your school.
Finally some people came and made a hangi. Our parents could come and have a hangi as well. It took one whole break but it was worth it because it was so! Nice that I felt like I was in heaven and it was really good.
This matariki was probably one of the best because it was a public holiday and i really enjoyed the hangi and hope you have a great Matariki.
